5 host tips to get the most out of Momera

Momera works well out of the box. But a few setup decisions make the guest experience much livelier. Here are five tips we''ve learned from the hosts who use Momera most.

1. Set a sensible shot limit

First temptation: give a big shot limit (30+ per guest) so they can shoot freely. This actually makes the results unfocused. Guests spam random shots, the album becomes noise.

Sweet spot: 10-15 shots per guest for a 2-3 hour event, 20-25 for a 4-6 hour event. The limit makes guests pick meaningful moments — they won''t spam if they know their shots are counted.

2. Pick a filter that matches the vibe

Momera has 6 cinematic filters: Raw (natural), Portra (warm timeless), Superia (bright outdoor), Ultramax (punchy everyday), CineStill (tungsten indoor night), Ilford (dramatic black and white).

Recommended by event:

• Wedding afternoon/outdoor → Portra (warm romantic)
• Party at night indoor → CineStill (cinematic tungsten)
• Company retreat outdoor → Superia (bright energetic)
• Intimate birthday → Ultramax (punchy familiar)
• Editorial B&W look → Ilford

If you want every photo to share a cohesive look, lock the filter (every guest uses the same one). If you want variety, leave it free (guests pick their own).

3. Time the reveal mode

Momera has two reveal modes: Live (photos appear in real time as they''re taken) and Reveal (photos are saved but stay hidden until the host triggers a reveal).

Live fits: birthdays, corporate events, reunions — the event''s energy actually rises when guests see photos landing live.

Reveal fits: wedding surprise ceremonies, product launch reveals, surprise birthdays — the dramatic moment amplifies when the host triggers "reveal all" in front of guests.

4. Print the QR properly

Too small = guests struggle to scan. Too big but in the wrong spot = guests don''t notice.

Best practice:

• Minimum size: 10×10 cm for standing display, 15×15 cm for tabletop
• Placement: entrance + registration table + cake/food table — 2-3 spots so guests are sure to scan
• Contrast: dark-on-light or light-on-dark. Dark magenta on pastel = scanner won''t catch it
• Test scan with an older phone first (low-end Android, grandma''s phone). If old phones scan, every phone will.

5. Turn on TV mode

TV mode is a real-time album slideshow on a big screen. Photos land → auto-appear on the TV within seconds. This is an engagement multiplier — guests laugh watching their friends'' shots pop up. It brings the party alive.

Setup: host dashboard → Live Display tab → generate the TV URL → open the URL on a laptop connected to the TV/projector.

If your venue has a screen (most wedding halls and company ballrooms do), use it. TV mode is included in every paid tier.

Bonus: prep your guests

For a formal event, include a short instruction in the invitation: "On arrival, scan the QR at the registration desk to join the shared album." Guests know the activity is coming and mentally prep.
